Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e. V.

Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e. V. (JUH) is a German non-governmental organization dedicated to excellence in the fields of ambulance service, civil protection and disaster relief. With its 11,000 full-time and 22,000 voluntary staff, Johanniter is one of four organizations forming the backbone of the German ambulance and medical civil protection system.

Johanniter also works in the international arena, providing assistance in the realms of disaster relief, medical aid and disaster preparedness.

Johanniter is also actively involved in the Community Civil Protection Mechanism: It conducts assessment mission courses for EU personnel in Cyprus, provides trainers and lecturers for various courses, and contributes civil protection/disaster relief experts for missions. Johanniter is a co-developer of the EU Assessment Mission Kits and the MIC in a Box and has an agreement with the Commission to maintain and provide Assessment Mission Kits for EU civil protection interventions.

JUH is involved in this proposal with three entities: it’s International Staff and Training Centre based at the JUH Academy in Muenster, its Logistics Centre in Hamburg, and its Department for International Assistance and Civil Protection at its Berlin headquarters.

Cyprus Civil Defence

Cyprus Civil Defence (CCD) is the governmental agency in charge of the protection of the people of Cyprus under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Cyprus.
It has a long line of experience in disaster relief related to natural disasters, which have occurred on the island of Cyprus such as earthquakes, forest fires, draughts, floods, and severe rainstorms.

Cyprus, through CCD, actively participates in the Community Civil Protection Mechanism and harmonises, where necessary, national policies and programmes with the Acquis Communautaire. CCD and Johanniter have established a tradition of cooperation since 2006 by conducting the EU Assessment Mission Courses on Cyprus (together with the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief).

The contribution of CCD to the present project is to support and give input to the development process for the TAST and all procedures, provides the determined easily deployable personnel and is involved and participating in all TAST events.
